SURF SCHOOL

Helping you build a relationship with the Ocean

Surf School

At Vaayu Kula, we have a love affair with the Arabian sea, the winds, the tides…

For a long time, Goa was not a destination for surfers – we started one of the first surf schools and it’s a great place to learn the language of the waves.

And it goes beyond classical surfing, there’s stand-up paddle boarding (and the winds here are great for kite-surfing).  Early morning is the best time for surfing and SUP, while the winds tend to pick up in the afternoon from January to May for great sunset kite-surfing.

Take it to the Waves…

Surfing

With over 10 years of experience, all our Vaayu Kula Surf instructors are ISA certified. Our team of surf instructors will guide you through the basics of understanding how to stand up and ride a wave. It’s a journey of both breath, balance, momentum, courage – and learning how to read the waves. Soon it becomes second nature.

With a full range of long boards or foam boards and your Vaayu surf instructor by your side, you can discover a new way to be with nature.

Lessons range from a one-day session to three or five day surf courses – all with our certified instructors.

Like everything, surf season is dependent on Mother Nature’s mood, although it does peak from October through to April. Waves range from waist to head height. We encourage our guests to leave their equipment at home. We provide a full selection of surfboards, and rash guards.

Our location and wave conditions make for the perfect place to start your surfing journey.

Start your own love affair with the elements…

Surf sessions start at 2500 INR, or just rent a board for 500 INR an hour.

Best times for surf are 9 am to 12 noon.

Book directly at the reception or get in touch to book in advance.

Stand-up Paddle Boarding

Go out dolphin watching… on your Stand Up Paddle Board. A great way to meet the ocean and her inhabitants. Or paddle through a beautiful lagoon…

SUP is an offshoot of surfing that originated in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits until a wave comes, stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. There is a different kind of grace to this experience. Less anticipation than surfing, you can just surrender to the natural flow of the water, rather than any element of grasping or trying to catch a wave.

At Vaayu we have a great selection of SUP boards that can be taken out onto our adjoining lagoon or if you’re experienced, you can explore the ocean and try catch some waves.

We offer both lessons and rentals for SUP.
